Field horsetrail (Equisetum arvense) is a close relative to plants that used to live on the planet 270 million years ago. Other classes and orders of Equisetophyta are known from the fossil record, where they were important members of the world flora during the Carboniferous period. Its leaves and stem are reach in Silicon and it was used by ancient Egyptians to heal the open wounds.
