The cobbled paths and trails together with the Volos-Milies railway, used to be the only axis of communication between the villages and Volos capital during the 50’s. Despite the years that passed by, many of the traditional paths are still in very good shape due to efforts done by local communities. These paths give the visitors the chance to explore the mountain in safety, from a close distance.

Philoxenia 2006 Tourism Fair. 16-19 Nov. 2006

Pelion Mouresi Municipality and the E.T.A.M. - Municipal Enterprise for Tourism Development of Mouresi were once more present at this year's Philoxenia Tourism Fair held in Tessaloniki on Nov. 16-19 2006.
After it's continuous presence at Philoxenia Tourism Fair, were Mouresi Municipality was awarded for the last 3 consecutive years the special award for the best fair's stand, this year they decided to move to Pavilion 15, stand 19 of the Tourism Fair, along with big tourism organizations stands, foreign nation's stands, Olympic Airways and GNTO's (Greek National Tourism Organization) stands.

Being the only Municipal stand in Pavilion 15 of the Tourism Fair, Mouresi Municipality's presence was quite fascinating, promoting the natural beauties of the Pelion area, as well as it's agricultural philosophy.
Their aims for this year's fair was to claim one more of the Tourism Fair's awards, but above all, to promote with the best possible way the Pelion's best sights and resorts being hosted by Mouresi Municipality to the thousands of the visitors of Philoxenia.

Fire damages part of eastern Pelion mountain

The Greek fire police is giving a battle over tens of fire fields across the country since yesterday's burning hell over parts of Greece's mainland.
In the Southern parts of Pelion mountain the fire has caused a mass destruction, destroying tens of cottages and houses until now, including Prodromos monastery and the pine forest of Neochori. The last days there has been an excessive coverage by the media about the fires destroying part of Pelion Mountain, which do not reflect the reality.

It is a certain fact that a part of the wild forest along with some cultivations on a non fertile area were indeed damaged from fires, a fact which has caused a great regret to all.

In order to restore the truth and to fully inform the citizens and visitors, we are aware that all tourist destinations, mountainous and coastal along with every single settlement and village do remain intact and ready to accommodate all guests and friends of the area.

Finally, I personally believe that over-reacting and exaggerating does not help towards an objective fact update, but arouses worries and misleads the community and tourism."

5th Chestnuts Festival 2007 (26/10/2007-28/10/2007)
